Transportation

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV)- A major traffic accident has shut down all but one lane of Interstate 277 westbound in uptown Charlotte.

The incident was reported at 2:40 p.m. at mile marker 5 along I-277.

The Charlotte Fire Department says a fuel leak will cause significant traffic delays as the scene is cleared and ask motorists to avoid the area.

Several cars were involved and a light pole crashed across the roadway, according to the N.C. Department of Transportation.

Mecklenburg Medic treated two patients with non-life threatening injuries and tranported them to Carolinas Medical Center-Huntersville.
