CHARLOTTE - Athletes often inspire fans... but sometimes fans can inspire athletes, too
In the case of the Charlotte Checkers, the inspiration is Zach Bennett, an 11-year-old boy with neurofibromatosis 1, a chronic genetic disorder which led to the amputation of both of Zach's legs.
Zach was a fan of the Albany River Rats before the team moved to Charlotte to become the Charlotte Checkers. In April, the Checkers helped Zach move to town by buying him a home, putting Zach and his family to be closer to excellent medical care at Presbyterian Hemby Children's Hospital and the team.
Brixx has announced that they will donate $3 from every adult pizza and $1 from every kid's pizza Tuesday to Zach Bennett through the Charlotte Checkers Charitable Foundation.
In order to make sure your money is donated - you have to present this flier.
Head to any Charlotte-area Brixx before 1 am on Wednesday morning and present the flier to help donate money to Zach's cause.
Chubby and Zach Bennett and his family will be present at the Uptown location from 6 - 7 p.m. so drop by and say hello!
Brixx Pizza locations are in Dilworth, 1801 Scott Ave.; Uptown, 225 E. Sixth St.; Blakeney, 9820 Rea Road; Foxcroft, 7814 Fairview Road; and Birkdale, 16915 Birkdale Commons Parkway in Huntersville.
