Applications available for Regional Artist Project Grant (RAPG)

The Arts & Science Council has applications available for the Regional Artist Project Grant.

The grant provides funds of up to $2,000 for individuals and groups of unincorporated artists to pursue projects that further enhance their artistic development by attending a professional advancement experience or purchasing/renting equipment.

“By virtue of helping the development of 30 plus artists every year, the Regional Artist Project Grant is one of the most impactful grant programs offered through ASC,” said ASC President Scott Provancher.

The grant is available to artists in all disciplines.

Cult Movie Monday: The Goonies

Cult Movie Monday: The Goonies

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - CULT MOVIE MONDAY is presented by The Light Factory and Theatre 650. We celebrate the wild, wonderful, and most especially, the weird – the last Monday of every month. Admission is free and so is the popcorn. Mikey Walsh and Brandon Walsh are brothers whose family is preparing to move because developers want to build a golf course in the place of their neighborhood — unless enough money is raised to stop the construction of the golf course, and that’s quite doubtful.

Down on the Farm at Charlotte Nature Museum

Hay, that’s enough horsing around! We are giving two (green) thumbs up for local farms and their animals when Charlotte Nature Museum hosts its June Creature Feature event, Farm Day, Saturday, June 16, from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

"Ewe" can discover the amazing ways farm animals are alike and different from animals you might find in your own backyard. For example, did you know sheep (Ovis aries), have a split in their upper lip that they use to nibble on leafy delights such as grass, lettuce and other tasty plants? Or, chomp on this fun fact: lettuce is actually a member of the sunflower family.
